Polymer drugs or polymeric drugs are attractiog much interest from the standpoint of drug development in recent years, because they can be expected to increase the specificity of action, reduce toxic side effect and permit longer duration of drug action. The aim of this work is to synthesize a new biologically active polymer from endo-3,6-epoxy-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimide(ETPI), because the structural feature and polyanionic character after hydrolysis of polymers containing ETPI are similar to those of DIVEMA.
