The exact knowledge of the meltdown progress and the condition of the foamy slage are important parameters for an optimized process control. Generally, perating programs (transformer taps, oxygen technology) are run on a kWh-controlled basis, the kWh switch points representing experimental values which are possibly available in different programs in order to guarantee optimized melt-down conditions.
