This paper describes how driver fatigue would increase in 24-hour extended driving conditionrnand actual long distance heavy trucks, and how to detect driver fatigue in operating situations.rnThe sensors equipped test passenger car has been used for 24-hour driving investigation and itrnwas operated by volunteers as drivers. The long distance truck drivers were observed by thernobserver in actual operating situation. When 8 hours had passed since the start, it was shownrnthat the situation of driver fatigue increases rapidly by the data of a self-rating fatiguernquestionnaire and metabolism. Unusual operation was detected about 1 hour before a driverrnfeels the increase of self-rating fatigue. The sensors for driving position can be detectingrndriver fatigue.
