R1336mzz(E) has attracted attention as a new working fluid for waste heat recovery systems and organicRankine cycles, replacing R245fa. This study experimentally investigated the boiling and condensation heattransfer characteristics of R1336mzz(E) in a horizontal multiport tube. The heat transfer coefficients weremeasured for the boiling and condensation flows. The effects of mass velocity, heat flux, and vapor quality onthe boiling and condensation heat transfer coefficients were clarified. The boiling and condensation heattransfer were characterized by surface tension at lower mass velocities, while forced convective heat transferbecame dominant at high mass velocities. The measured data were compared to previous correlations of heattransfer coefficients and frictional pressure drops.
