Towards an Influence Model for Cybersecurity and Information Warfare

Interactions between multiple individuals and organizations are integral to the operation of society at all levels. However, the same conduits that these critical activities occur over can also be used for nefarious purposes. In this article, a model for identifying and exploring influence transactions is presented. A classification scheme for the characterization of the influence events, consisting of one or more influence transactions, is also proposed. Examples are provided of the use of these two systems and their efficacy is qualitatively assessed.
