In the paper a descriptor technique to obtain residual filters for linear continuous-time Metzler systems is proposed. Conditions are introduced that achieve in design given levels of performance and structural compatibility with respect to existing parametric constraints. Resulting associated structure of linear matrix inequalities is outlined to possess stable asymptotic dynamic properties of the residual filters. The proposed design conditions are illustrated in the numerical example.
