Present work describes a method of designing a compact unobscured three mirror anastigmat (TMA) optical system which is useful for high resolution imaging over wide spectral regions. Third order aberrations such as spherical, coma, astigmatism and field curvature are simultaneously corrected by varying separation between mirrors and tilting secondary and tertiary mirrors relative to the optical axis of primary mirror. Near diffraction limited MTF performance is achieved by optimizing the primary mirror as an extended polynomial and the secondary and tertiary mirrors as even asphere.
