摘要

Proximity sensors play a key role in enhancing the destruction capabilities of the warhead. Recently with advancement in diode laser technology and availability of high power laser diodes, laser based proximity sensors have gained popularity for their accuracy and resistance to jamming capabilities over other proximity sensors. Till now, use of laser based proximity sensors is limited due to a fixed range of detection of the target. It is desired that same laser proximity sensor should be programmable for different ranges of target detection depending on mechanical constraints. This will lead to reduction in development cost and will require short time for development of laser proximity sensor for various range applications. To fulfil this requirement, the concept for development of a Programmable Range Optical Sensor (PROS) has been explored in this paper.
