Thermoluminescence analysis of blue persistent phosphor

A commercially available blue persistent phosphor was analyzed using thermoluminescence in the new General Order Kinetics formalism. From the analysis, it is seen that the TL curve of a blue persistent phosphor can be described by seven TL peaks with the activation energy ranging from 0.666-1.14 eV. The frequency factor is in the range from 10~8-10~9 sec~(-1). The value of η is the range of 0.012≤η≤0.154, which suggests that about 1-15% of the empty traps takes part in the retrapping of electrons from the conduction band. Again, from the ratio of N/n_o it is seen that the material consists of abundant empty traps. The luminescence lifetime of the blue persistent luminescent material Sr_4Al_(14)O_(25):Eu~(2+)Nb~(3+) ranges from 0.65hr to 1.3 × 10~8 hrs at 300°K. The persistence luminescence of Sr_4Al_(14)O_(25):Eu~(2+)Nb~(3+) at room temperature is due to the trap at 362.9°K.
