The objective of the study is to structurally analyze the connecting rod of the 1500 hp diesel engine of a vehicle for the induced stresses due to high power. The net force acting due to the gas pressure and the inertia, is applied on the top of the piston in the kinematic mechanism. The reaction forces produced at each eye of the main connecting rod were predicted and given as input for this analysis. The forces are taken at the worst condition, i.e. during the power stroke for the rated speed, at small end of connecting rod the maximum force 184629N,at 0.000769 sec is acting and with respect to this time the resolved force acting perpendicular to the axis is taken. From the static analysis, the induced stresses were found to be within the permissible limit for the connecting rod for the rated speed. Similarly carried out the static analysis for the maximum speed and maximum torque conditions.
