Preface Probing Nanoscale Dynamics in Energy related Materials -Proceedings of The Joint International Conference on Quasielastic Neutron Scattering and The Workshop on Inelastic spectrometers (QENS/WINS 2016)

The present proceedings volume contains contributions presented at the 12th Quasielastic Neutron Scattering conference and the 7th Workshop on Inelastic Spectrometers hosted by Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin. While the Quasielastic Neutron Scattering Conference (QENS 2016) was dedicated to the scientific applications of neutron spectroscopy, the Workshop on Inelastic Spectrometers WINS 2016 allowed us to explore the instrumental aspects. The organization of QENS and WINS one after the other at the same location offered scientists the flexibility to participate in both events or in only one of them. 108 participants from universities, research laboratories and industry from all over the world took part in QENS and WINS, with a notably high number of new faces.
