This paper describes the high degree of integration between 4M direct reduction plant and the AM2 melt shop through the HYTEMP system for maximizing revenues. These plants are in Guerrero Steel works in Monterrey, Mexico. 4M direct reduction plant can produce Hot Reduced Iron (HRD) at temperatures between 337 and 680 °C by decreasing the natural gas injection to the reactors cone from 85 to 0 NCM/TFe, decreasing hourly plant capacity from 106 to 98 TFe/hr HRD. AM2 Danielli furnace decreases power consumption and increases daily hot liquid metal production by charging hotter HRD. The global operation of these integrated steel woks can be optimized by adjusting the temperature of hot HRD produced and delivered to the melt shop.
