摘要

The tailing of "Pedro Sotto Alba" nickel plant in Moa is sub product of sulphuric acid leach process in the high pressure reactor during the nickel extraction. The rational use of this sub product is a national problem, not only because of its volume accumulated in the dump and the ecological effect but also of its iron content and other elements like chrome, nickel, cobalt, manganese, aluminium. Based on the experiences acquired during a long period, together with new technological opportunities (high quality of tails and availability of the cheap energy) permit to continue developing the trial process in the efficient pilot plant and then to elaborate the investment proposition for the producing commercial product, which will be used for partial replace the scrap in the steel production. In this paper deal with the result of the investigation about the changes of phases of enrichment process, beginning from the magnetic roasting, concentration, pelletizing to reduced process. This paper also calculates the production cost of the prerreduced pellets independent of the natural gas price. It also explained the technical and economic analysis about the use of Moa ' s prerreduced pellets as partial substitute for the metallic scrap during the steel production in the EAF of "Antillana de Acero" plant.
