There are some reinforced concrete (RC) structures that must be survived impact loads resulting from crashing vehicles, ships or airplanes, or falling rocks, avalanches and explosions. In order to rationally examine the structural safety of the RC structures subjected to impact loadings in design, it is essential to analytically predict the impact responses of the RC structures. Therefore, the aim of this study was to experimentally examine the impact responses of RC beams and to develop an analytical model to predict the maximum midspan deflection as an important index for evaluating the degree of damage of RC beams under impact loadings.
