Eco-environment Impact Assessments of Integrated Pulp Mills Operated or Planned, and Large-area Fast-growing Eucalypt Pulp Plantations in the Southern Coastland Zones of China: A Case Study of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan Provinces Areas1

In the process of forest-paper integration engineer in the southern coastland zones in China, some problems were becoming more and more serious, especially for some ecological environmental problems. This article analyzed and evaluated some important ecological environmental problems occurred in the process of presently operated or planning integrated pulp mills and large-area eucalypt pulp plantation forests, some suggestions and countermeasures were put forward. As to the present thirteen integrated pulp mills in southern coastland zones, of which the possible environmental impacts concerned about the polluted discharges of pulping, bleaching processes, especially for industrial raw materials supplements and industrial water usages in the integrated pulp mills on the regional ecological environments of Xijiang River, Beibu Gulf and its littoral regions were evaluated. According to the present many arguments on whether large-area eucalypt pulp plantation forests in the southern coastland zones resulted in the regional ecological disasters, this article analyzed and evaluated objectively its influences on the forestry ecosystem, such as fertilities of soil, water environment, forest biodiversities and stabilities, some scientific problems were discussed.
