Improvement of Product Quality in POSCO Minimill

摘要

POSCO Minimill has been contributing to Korean domestic steel market by supplying flat product since October 1996. Since start-up, lots of endeavors were devoted to stabilizing operation and to elevatio n of quality level of product. Its designed production capacity is 1.8MTPY and currently it has increased to 2.1MTPY by the improvement in operating technology and the modification of caster facilities. The paradigm dominating Korean steel industry has changed recently from 'the more, the better' to the situation of putting emphasis more on production quality th an on productivity. For several years, POSCO Minimill has been devoting its passion to improving product quality because customer's demand for quality product is increasing. This paper deals with the instances of recent activities for product quality improvement and several quality management systems which were develop ed and are under developing.
