Rare earth output is abundant in China, but the efficiency and the environmental protection in rare earth industry are the problem of people's concern. The membrane separation method is a kind separation method of high effectivity and the environmental protection, but the rare earth ions in the solution cannot straightly be rejected by ultrafiltration membrane. On the basis of the hybrid process of Complexation-Ultrafiltration, industry metal ion in the water solution can be eliminated selectively with the macromolecule complexant. In this case, the separation experiments of lanthanum (La~(3+)) and europium (Eu~(3+)) ion in the solution were carried out with the complexation-ultrafiltration method using the aqueous macromolecule polyacrylate sodium (PAA) which had been pretreated as the complexant. The purpose of this paper is the recover of rare earth wastewater containg La~(3+) and Eu~(3+) ion including the unitary solution and their dual solution of La~(3+) and Eu~(3+) ion. The effects of pH value, loading ratio (L), ion strength and complexant concentration on the rare earth ion separation process were investigated. The suitable experimental condition was provided for the industrial separation application of rare earth wastewater containg La~(3+) and Eu~(3+) ion by the complexation-ultrafiltration method.
