Fixed carrier membranes for CO_2 separation have attracted attention because of their more superior durability than supported liquid membranes and ion-exchange membranes as the carriers are connected onto the substrates via covalent bonds. The fixed carrier membranes mostly were prepared by solution coating [1-3] and plasma polymerization processes [4, 5]. Since the conception of interfacial polymerization (IP) was put forward by Morgan [6], interfacial polymerization has become a well-established synthesis method for the preparation of thin films. Commercially thin-film composite (TFC) reverse osmosis membranes and TFC nanfiltration membranes were manufactured by IP process. Compared with RO or NF membranes, the skin layer of gas separation composite membranes must be absolutely defect-free, since a few defects can significantly reduce the selectivity of the membranes. In this paper, we have prepared a novel fixed carrier composite membrane by IP process. Until now, no one has reported about fixed carrier composite membranes prepared by IP process.
