The influence of fines on the dynamic properties of sands

摘要

The dynamic properties of natural sands with fines and artificially prepared mixtures of a sand with fines were investigated at small to intermediate shear strains (10~(-6) - 10~(-3)), using a resonant-column apparatus. The influence of physical characteristics, fines content and strain level on the shear modulus and damping ratio are studied and discussed in the paper.
