Interest is growing in the use of By-product from flue gas desulphurization (FGD) to reclaim saline and sodic soils by controlling the pH and excessive Na{sup}+. The soil column experiment was adopted to study the effects on physical and chemical properties (ESP、 TDS、 pH、 (CO{sub}3){sup}(2-)+(HCO{sub}3){sup}- and the soil-water content) of saline and sodic soils with by-product from FGD in this paper. The experiment was designed with 8 treatments, with 4 leaching levels and 2 By-product from FGD levels (20.2 and 24.3 t/hm{sup}2). The ESP、 TDS、 pH and (CO{sub}3){sup}(2-)+(HCO{sub}3){sup}- decreased and the soil-water content increased in the soil profile by using by-product from FGD and leaching, and the physical and chemical properties of saline and sodic soils were improved. The effect of saline and sodic soils reclaimed with 24.3 t/hm{sup}2 by-product from flue gas desulphurization and 4 leaching times is best, the average of ESP、 TDS and pH on the 20cm surface respectively reduced to 9.6%、 0.15g/kg and 8.16.
