Integrated Planning and Operations for Supply Chain Management

Motivated by a problem arising in the steel industry, we consider the integrated facility location, distribution and inventory control for a single-dimensional product. We provide a mixed-integer programming formulation and a decomposition approach that determines the optimal distribution network and inventory policy. We discuss an extension to the case where demand rates are unknown, and indicate directions for future research.
