The Dyeing of Nylon 6,6 with Sulfer Dyes

Although sulfur dyes are commonly used for the dyeing of cellulosic fibers, their use on polyamide fibers has not enjoyed widespread interest. Recently, however, progress has been made in the application of selected sulfur dyes to nylon 6,6. This paper will report the results of dyeing nylon 6,6 with sulfur dyes in terms of color strength, washfastness and lightfastness. A discussion of the mechanism of sulfur dyeing of nylon 6,6 will be given.
