Sick building syndrome has been of great concern to many people, especially since the discovery of Legionnaire's disease. Medical researchers have concluded that microorganisms (bacteria, virus, mold, fungi, and mildew) found in indoor air are the main culprits causing allergies and sickness to people in the buildings. Presently available technologies to clean the indoor air includes the use of activated charcoal filters, HEPA filters, ozonation air ionization and bioguard filters. None of these technologies are completely effective. Activated charcoal will remove the VOC's from the air and the large microorganisms such as mites sticking to dust but will not remove most microorganisms in the air. HEPA filters are ineffective in removing VOC's as well as microorganisms.
