THE ACTIVE TERRANES OF THE CONTINENTAL MARGIN IN EASTERN ASIA AND ITS GEODYNAMIC BACKGROUND

Since Late Cretaceous the tectonic framework of the continental margin in eastern Asia was mainly characterized by the continental crustal disintegration, massif spliting and the formation of the terrains and their migration towards the ocean. The low degree satelite gravity anomaly of eastern Asia and its adjacent sea areas shows that there is a mantle stress field, it drags the lithosphere of eastern Asia to migrate unevenly to the western Pacific. This is also the geodynamic setting of tectonic spreading of the continental margin zone in eastern Asia.
