The ways to manage maintenance are varied. Choosing one of them depends on company politics.The trend is leading us to have an asset management model. The asset management model involvesall company departments: Maintenance, supply chain, operations, etc. To reach that state it isnecessary to have a good maintenance management. Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is agood model.There are many theorical information about models: RCM, RCM II are examples. However,whichever we choose, to take them to the practical is not a simple process. There is little informationabout how to implement it in underground mining. On the road we can find many issues that wehave to take in account. Some of them can be: Knowledge of RCM basics of the maintenance people,historical data, equipment records in ERPs, etc.Nexa Resources, as leader in underground mining in Peru have the initiative to reach in the futurethe Asset Management state including certification ISO 55000. We know is not an easy task, but notimpossible to reach. One of the first steps is having a RCM strategy for the maintenance plans. Aswas told in the second paragraph we found issues. This work intent to share those issues asexperience and reference for other companies.The included issues that will be explained are: Planning, criticality analysis for equipment,knowledge of RCM basics, SAP records, contracts to perform FMEA (Failure Mode and EffectAnalysis), people experience, maintenance plans, balance of charge work, execution, feedback andothers.The process in Nexa involves three mine sites in Peru. The results are in process we hope these canbe reflected in improving of KPIs.
