Proactive measures to prevent work related injuries in computer users of a software industry

WMSD's are commonly reported conditions among computer users Knowing this and combined with experience of treating injuries a partial hypothetical injury prevention model was set up to minimize risk for work related injuries because of prolong computer usage in IT industry, 1163 random group of subjects using computers at a large IT corporation underwent ergonomic training followed by injury risk analysis questioner (self symptom reported questioner) ergonomic and exercise intervention. Identified 199 subjects who were symptomatic intervened and were followed up for subjective report of decreased discomfort/ pain compared to first injury risk analysis. 82 percent of subjects reported relief in symptoms one week post intervention, 16 percent reported relief in symptoms on 2nd follow up while 2 percent reported discomfort even after 3rd follow up. Fantastic results of this study about 98% percent subjects responding completely to proactive comprehensive ergonomic program which creates basic awareness among computer users about warning signs, initial self help awareness, assessing ergonomic risk in different category combined with appropriate ergonomic interventions can minimize risk of chronic pain which is prevalent among computer professionals with this injury prevention model
