A FRAMEWORK FOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS THAT SUPPORT PLM-BASED SERVICE-ORIENTED MANUFACTURING PROCESS MANAGEMENT

The business globalization and technological innovations are moving manufacturing firms from product focus to service focus. Manufacturing firms need to provide their best services, rather than products, to create values for their customers and, thus, remain competitive. Based on the framework of product lifecycle management (PLM), this study proposes a system framework that is intended to support service-oriented manufacturing process management (MPM). More specifically, this study (1) explains the concept of PLM-based service-oriented MPM, (2) discusses the data model and process integration model for the system, and (3) explores the system architecture that supports service-oriented MPM.
