Lap joints are convenient test configurations to evaluate the efficacy of gross contact surface treatments. Instrumentation is described for contact resistance measurements of lap joints in the load range from 4.4 N to 44 000 N (1 to 10.000 lb). Test data are presented for various contact materials. Equations for the contact resistance of lap joints ore derived.
