Role of environmental monitoring, modeling and GIS in the assessment of state of the environment

The goal of the project was to monitoring the complex environmental state of Balatonfured, a little city near the lake Balaton. In the course of the monitoring the gained data were processed by utilization of a geographical information system. After the data preparation work environment qualifier maps were derived for publishing the measured information. We developed an environment quality maps series and a spatial and time dependent evaluation system for the state of environment. These maps (air quality maps, noise map, water quality map, soil and green-areas affect map) were presented for the inhabitants using Internet.
