Organic/inorganic hybrid materials have attracted considerable attention during past decades. In some cases, inorganic nano-particles are well dispersed in a polymer matrix via sol-gel process of alkoxysilanes in a polymer solution. In other cases, sol-gel process was carried out in the presence of a small fraction of polymer to form an organic/inorganic hybrid coating. Surfactant micelle-templated sol-gel of alkoxysilane has been extensively investigated to synthesize materials with meso-pores. In the current communication, we synthesized the block copolymer, one block of which has alkoxysilane side groups. Such a block polymer is designed to use as a precursor to construct organic/inorganic nano-hybrid materials with various order structures.
