A Novel Coalescing Separator for Oily Water Treatment

A novel coalescing separator has been developed for oily water treatment by BCB Filtration Technology Company. This method allows the removal of oil droplets larger than 2 microns and treats oily water down to less than 5ppm even with inlet oil concentration as high as 5000ppm. The innovative technology can, in certain cases, replace much more traditional equipments such as DAF, hydrocyclones, walnut filters. It has been widely applied in produced water treatment and oily water treatment in oil refinery and petrochemical industries. The work principle and several typical application cases of this novel coalescing separation technology were introduced. Characteristics and technical and economic evaluation between this novel coalescing separation method and other traditional techniques for de-oiling were compared in this paper.
