This paper presents a study of the workability and stress-corrosion of some type of fiber reinforced concretes containing steel fibers and structural polymer fibers in order to check their influence on the workability and durability of products manufactured with these kinds of concretes. The study looks at the workability of fiber reinforced concretes containing different fiber percentages in comparison to a standard concrete without fibers. Deterioration due to stress-corrosion is assessed with the aid of an artificial aging system consisting of aggressive solutions (sulphates and chlorides) with a high gradient stress. The chemo-mechanical effects have been determined using non-destructive methods allowing the amount of their relevant effects over time. The study set out that polymer fibers produce more durable concretes than steel fibers.
