In the oil and hydraulic filtration industry, cellulose, synthetic and cellulose blends of media have traditionally dominated the filter market. These types of media have always met the needs of the customer in terms of price and performance. Due to customer demands for longer life, reduced cost and increased performance the need for short development time has become critical. The demands for reduced time to market have become a main objective. The objective of this paper is to compare actual filter performance to theoretical filter performance by computational methods. In the course of this study we have evaluated and compared two computational performance methods to actual finished filter performance. The utilization of these methods could reduce the time required to bring new media to market.
