The energy widths of the states of protons and antiprotons moving at arbitrary velocities in a homogeneous electron gas are evaluated within a quadratic response theory and the random-phase approximation (RPA). It is found that at low and intermediate velocities the Z~3_1 correction causes a considerable reduction in the energy width of the states of antiprotons, though it is found to be less important than in the evaluation of both the stoppoing power the energy-loss straggling.
