In this paper, the process of direct oxidative carbonylation of vapor phase methanol for dimethyl carbonate producing is adapted. Impregnation method is recommended to prepare the catalyst and CuCl_2 as precursor. By using many surface modified techniques, activated carbon and other different types of commercial catalytic supports were examined. PdCl_2, HPA and KCI used as assistant agents were also comparied. Methods of surface analysis such as pore structure analysis and IR were used to characterize the catalyst. It shows that activated carbon ACI is the most preferred support and HPA as an assistant agent or as the second support may play an important role in catalytic performance.
