摘要

Theoretical analyses of the fundamental phenomena on mold flux and nonmetallic inclusions in the continuous casting of steel slabs have been developed. The composition change of mold flux due to the reaction with molten steel can be theoretically well predicted. The analysis is useful for the design of mold flux. The decrease in the entrapment of inclusions on the solidification front by the electromagnetically induced flow of molten steel was qualitatively confirmed by the approximate analysts to get a useful equation for predicting the inclusion behavior. However, further development of theoretical analyses is desired for more quantitative prediction and new control of the important phenomena.
