Limestone-based FGD process is the most widely applied process for large capacity plants. There are two important points in this process. The first is the optimum operating condition for maximum SO_2 removal efficiency and the second is the control of scale that reduce the reliability of total process. In this study, the effect of operating conditions on the SO_2 removal efficiency and scale formation in limestone-based FGD process will be investigated. The scale formation mechanism will be verified in a lab-scale test and the control method of scale for reliable operation will be established by the application of lab-scale test result to a pilot-scale facility test.
