摘要

During the process development of a polyester alloy medical device, a major relationship between product performance (incidence of failures) and the Theological properties was discovered. The Theological parameters were in turn found to be dependent on several factors during the polymer manufacturing, alloy compounding, and injection molding processes. It was also found, that controls far beyond the industry accepted standards were required for optimum quality. Through the implementation of a modified ASTM melt flow procedure at multiple points of the manufacturing process, consistent high quality production was achieved.
