The paper present the observed raindrop size distribution (RSD) during various types of rainfall viz.. thunderstorms, drizzle and showers and discusses the power law A=aR/sup b/, by employing the observed RSD over Guwahati, one of the most rain affected regions of the world. The values for the coefficients a, b are computed for each type of observed RSD. Finally the specific attenuation (A) values, predicted with the calculated values of a, b are assessed with those experimentally received over an LOS link operating at 11 GHz. This link is an intra-city network 3.2 km long.
