Computer-aided technical systems design mixed with computer-aided control system design (CATSD/CACSD), aside from allowing the operational launching of the controls (real time) on existing technical systems, also permits us to design or to improve them. The essential difference with CACSD resides in the nature of the models handled. Models are detailed and closed to the physical reality in CATSD/CACSD (knowledge models), when CACSD models are global ones (representation models). Gaz de France has been working for several years now on the development of an CATSD/CACSD software environment (ELACCS) whose objective is to federate pre-existing tools. This environment, which allows us to broaden the consulting engineer's field of investigation, is presented through its objectives and its current level of realization (ALBAMANE for ALlan-BAsile-MAple-NEptunix).
