1.Safety instrumented Systems (SIS) must be properly designed, operated, maintained and managed in order to achieve corporate tolerable risk levels 2.The international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 81511 constitute good engineering practices for (SIS) in this area 3.The key objective for an organisation responsible for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the SIS is to maintain the designed functionality and safety integrity of the SIS during the whole operation and maintenance phase.
