Hotel intelligent indoor guide service using wireless sensors and distributed computing

In recent years, with the rapid growth of the travel and tourism industry, an increasing number of hotels are becoming luxurious. However, the elaborate construction and decoration style make the room arrangement process more complex, which on the contrary results in a higher frequency that a guest gets lost in the hotel than before. In this paper, an intelligent indoor guide service is presented, based on two separated Wi-Fi wireless network, distributed sensor nodes with radio frequency identification reader and infrared sensors, indoor guest location, as well as indoor guide path mobile computing. This real-time service can guide several guests towards different directions at the same time by fast RFID information obtain and guide information scrolling. The application of Hainan University Shaoyifu Academic Exchange Center proved this service practical and effective in improving the guest experience and solving the "lost in hotel" problem.
