The Chemical Industry's Response to Trends and Innovations in the Transportation Industry - (PPT)

The materials used in the transportation industry have changed from metals to lightweight materials and are moving to more and more use of composites to keep up with industrial changes such as reduced vehicle weight, environmental concerns, improved fuel economy, and social trends. Over the years, the chemical industry has developed coatings to pre-treat metals used by the automotive manufacturer to promote the desired corrosion performance. However, new challenges will face the chemicals industry as it responds to current trends. This keynote address will focus on the challenges and possible options to address the needs of the transportation industry as it continues to change materials.
