Purpose of this article is a comparison of available technologies for Flue Gas Desulphurization for Power Plants, taking into account different criteria for evaluation of the best (available) suitable technology. All these different technologies have been installed and thoroughly tested during the recent years in Germany and Europe and have proven to be reliable and efficient in most applications. The minimum common requirement is to fulfil the relevant emission regulations. Nevertheless, there are differences: Some technologies are more efficient, others are more economic or treat higher SOx concentrations etc.. We want to introduce shortly the different Flue Gas Cleaning technologies available today with the benefits they offer, but also show possible limitations in their application. Finally we will present specific projects realized or under realization for the different technologies.
