The earthquakes are the events that more strike the mind of the persons: the earthquakes make to fall the human innate concept of the stability of the ground on which they live, on which they builds. Any event has the ability to obscure the perception as the earthquake, which produces extreme reactions as to run away or the absolute immobility: in some situation the fear and the spirit of preservation of peoples prevail inducing incautions that could have disastrous effects on mechanical components and systems. For this reason an automated detection of the earthquake with automated management of the Industrial Plant in order to place them in defined safety configurations during a seismic event, is preferable. Applying the International Standard philosophies already defined for the Nuclear Power Plants, Ansaldo Energia has developed a system and a strategy that detect the real earthquake events and, on the instantaneous evaluation of the energy transferred to the Plant structures and to the Main Components, it is able to automatically set the Plant in the best safety configuration.
