摘要

Many aspects of electric vehicles are a carry-over from vehicles with conventional propulsion systems. Hence, the previously gained knowledge and established development processes need to be taken into consideration. Also, there are several issues where electric vehicles do differ from the conventional vehicles, and hence, need a revision in the existing development processes or even establishment of new processes. This paper investigates the electrochemical energy storage (battery) of an electric vehicle that needs to be protected against run over scenarios. Therefore, the work in hand incorporates analytical, multi-body, and crash analysis, for a theoretical run-over scenario. In order to protect the battery from thermal propagation, a suitable protection approach is introduced. In order to develop such an approach, the physical principles and limits need to be investigated. The present work shows a methodology to develop these principles and subsequent limitations.
