摘要

Battery-operated systems in the space such as satellites, launchers and space vehicles are frequently subjected to harsh environmental stresses. The qualification as well as performance index of battery for such applications can not be assured unless until the impact of these environmental stress factors on the battery characteristics are known. State of Health (SOH) of battery should be taken as the most significant decision variable for battery's suitability and optimality to space applications because the failure of battery will cause shut down of whole system as it is technically difficult to replace the aged battery frequently. Thus this paper will present the qualitative quantification of the impact on SOH under the most frequent environmental stress factors:vibration, shock and extreme temperature. The research will be helpful, not only about prediction of life of battery, but it will also identify hidden corners to improve the life time of the battery.
