Lignin depolymerization has recently received increasing attention due to the pressing need to find sustainable alternatives and produce chemicals and fuels. However, low conversion rate of lignin is arisen from its folded stubborn macromolecular structure and complex primary monolignols.Hydrogenation has been proved as an attractive depolymerization technology of lignin to get high yield of monophenolics, which can not only saturate the molecular bond but also change the macromolecular structure.Reaction severity, solvents, and catalysts are the primary factors for controlling the yield and distribution of the products.A new technology integrating hydrogenation and fast pyrolysis was performed in this work, which was the first trial to use hydrogenation as a pretreatment method for lignin. The objective of this research is to focus on the relationship between hydrogenation conditions and the selectivity of pyrolyzed products from hydrogenated lignin, especially investigating the influence on the light olefins(ethylene, propylene and butylene)obtained from fast pyrolysis.
