Conventional tonometries are ineffective in the classification of Normal Tension Glaucoma (NTG). An alternate approach using in vivo time-dependent ocular responses is tested in human trials in this study. Continuous invivo corneal responses from 26 healthy and 4 NTG eyes wearing contact lens sensor (CLS) were acquired in human trials in this study. Dynamic rate-based parameters ((3 and τ) and state parameters (F0) delineated from the CLS data as a function of body position were analyzed. Analyses showed that classification methods using F0 alone failed to identify any NTG, while the addition of β and τ enabled the identification of 3 out of 4 NTG eyes. The preliminary in-vivo validation suggests that the time-based data are essential for successful NTG classification in ophthalmological diagnosis.
