The optimal transmitter position for maximum WIFI coverage in a residential home is investigated. A 60-GHz, 32 by 32 patch array antenna is implemented as the transmitter and the receiver antennas. The receivers are placed in each room of the home at equally spaced distances. The power received by each receiver is taken into account. By using genetic algorithm optimization in parallel, the optimal transmitter position is chosen as the one with the minimal number of receivers having received power less than −87.5 dBm. The GA chosen position results in acceptable received power at all but six receiver positions.
